BELL

with MIDI and Microphones
Sound
Demo (headphones recommended): Bell-Borsini-SuperStar-MIDI-SN293.wav
This is
a Borsini Super Star accordion made for BELL around 2000. Borsini is a
well established accordion manufacturer. The team has kept consistently
high quality over the years. Borsini accordions have a distinct sound -
rich, happy, ringing. The instruments are very well designed and are a
pleasure to play. The Super Star is Borsini's most popular model among
professional musicians. It features hand-made reeds, double tone
chamber, elegant classic body, and flawless mechanics throughout. The
instrument presented here has condenser microphones and state of
the art MusicTech MIDI with electromagnetic sensors. This is a one-owner
accordion.

recommended for better appreciation of the tonal quality of the
instrument):
This
is
a very well made professional accordion backed by the reputation of
Borsini and Bell Accordions' founder Aldo Mencaccini. This
instrument combines excellent acoustic tonal quality with top of the
line electronics and is suitable for any type of repertoire.
There are some cosmetic defects that do not affect the visual appeal
or performance of the accordion (see the pictures area for more
comments).

exciting visit to the Accordion Gallery.
There is a small
area of the upper part of the grill, close the the keyboard frame
(pictures above and below) with celluloid imperfections.
The key bed outer
corner has a small rough spot on the finish )barely visible).
There are some scuff
marks on the back side of the bass cover plate, probably from wrist
watch buckle (see the picture below).
With some patience
they can be buffed out. I do not find them significant.
The interior is
beautifully varnished. Borsini uses internal bellows gaskets that last
longer and provide excellent seal and compression.
The reed blocks have
additional bracket in the middle to distribute the pressure more
uniformly.
The hand-made A.
Severini reeds are among the most responsive reeds I have played. The
tone is rich and pleasant.
The MIDI was factory
installed in a very neat way. The cables are properly routed and do not
interfere with the acoustic components of the instrument.
Below you can see the
OPTIONAL interchangeable M2H reed blocks with hand-made Atrigiana Voci
reeds.
