Guerrini
Superior 2 Model
One of the BEST Acoustic Accordions
Dear
Accordion Friends,
There
are many nice instruments that can keep us satisfied and inspired.
However, once you come across an exceptional quality accordion you know
it from the first chord you play! We all deserve to find our ultimate
accordion, the accordion we will never part with. Fortunately, we have
different preferences and this makes the accordion world as exciting and
colorful it is. I know how great it feels to be able to hear that dream
sound each time you play. I am sure someone will soon feel the same way
about the accordion I am presenting to you now.
This Guerrini Superior 2 accordion was built
in Italy in 1976. The instrument has been professionally serviced:
- Re-waxed
- New reed valves
- Voiced and tuned to 442 Hz
- New bellows
- New bellows protector
- New treble valves
- New shoulder straps
- New bass strap
This accordion is clean, well voiced and
tuned and has excellent compression and efficiency. This is one of the
best and most desired professional accordions. It is in the same league as
the 1960s Scandalli Super VI and Settimio Soprani Artist VI and 1970s
Centennial Dallape Supermaestro.
- Made in Italy in 1976, Serial number 104
- Hand-made reeds (Taborro bass
reeds and Cagnoni treble reeds)
- 4 sets of treble reeds - LM1M2H
- Concert / Balkan tuned
- DOUBLE TONE CHAMBER (CASSOTTO) - Bassoon (L) and
Clarinet (M1)
- 5 sets of bass reeds
- 41 keys, 19.25 " keyboard
- nicely round white key tops with smooth edges
- 12 treble switches plus Palm Master for 13
different
treble sounds - Bassoon (L), Accordion
(LM1M2), Bandoneon (LM1),
Sax (LM2), Harmonium (LM1H), Organ (LH),
Musette (M1M2H), Violin (M1M2),
Oboe (M1H), Sopran
(M2), Clarinet (M1), and Piccolo
(H)
The second
set of middle reeds that are out of the chamber is accessible through
the "Sopran" switch. If you happen to like Balkan music you know this
switch is a must-have. The Bandoneon features the double-chambered LM1
warmer sound. The Sax switch combines the chambered bassoon reeds with
the out-of-chamber M2 ("sopran") reeds for a brighter tone.
- Palm Master switch (LMMH)
- Chin Master switch (now disconnected, since the original owner used to
hit it inadvertently while glancing down the keyboard)
- 120 bass - white pearl buttons
- 9 bass switches
- Low-A bass reed
configuration
- Excellent compression
- Bellows protector
- Very comfortable shoulder and bass straps
- 28.5 lb
- Hard-shell case or gig-bad - your choice

The
accordion comes with new shoulder straps, new bass strap, and new
bellows protector.
Let's take
a look inside this beautiful accordion and admire the craftsmanship of
the artisans at Guerrini...
The
keyboard design is very similar to the 1960's Scandalli Super VI and
Settimio Soprani Artist VI.
These are weighted keys, made of walnut
and with nicely round key tops.
The wax and
reed leathers are new.
The accordion was voiced and tuned and
is ready for recordings or live performances.
Guerrini
used some of the best reed blocks design - visually appealing with the
combination of several types
of aged woods, very resonant, optimized
for air flow and reed response.
The serial
number can be see on all reed blocks, sound boards and other major
components.

A small piece of the bellows molding
(about 3 cm) was broken while replacing the bellows (see the close-up
picture below).
It was reattached and can't be seen in
playing position. This doesn't affect the performance of the instrument.
This instrument is in amazing condition.
If you have been
trying to find one you know it takes many years and is worth flying
overseas to get it.
