Classic
PETOSA AM 1100 Accordion - The Flagship Model!
Dear
Accordion Friends,
This is
a classic Petosa AM 1100 accordion, built in 2004 and still in
excellent condition. This fabulous acoustic instrument comes with a
factory installed S-2000
MIDI controller, fully programmed and ready to be used. This accordion
has been a dream for a generation of American musicians. It features the
famous Petosa mahogany chamber and solid walnut keyboard. The mechanics
is indestructible. The tone is rich and powerful. With one set of
bassoon reeds and three sets of clarinet reeds the instrument features
both concert and musette sounds. The M1 and M2 reeds are tuned in unison
for a beautiful concert tuned violin sound and the third set of clarinet
reeds (M3) is tuned sharp to allow for musette sounds when used in
combination with the other concert tuned reeds. The
10 (!) bass switches would allow you to find the perfect balance between
treble and bass for any selected reed combination. In addition to the
excellent acoustic features, the accordion has built-in microphones and
a full MIDI installation with very friendly grill controller. You can
play this accordion as a fine acoustic instrument, as amplified
accordion, as a MIDI instrument sounding like a full orchestra, or in
any combination.
The AM
1100 model features the best hand-made reeds available with
double tone chamber from solid mahogany and low-A bass
configuration. It remains the flagship model of Petosa Accordions in Seattle.

I
can't stress enough how important it is to have a professional
programming in order to enjoy the electronics orchestral capabilities of
a MIDI accordion. With a Solton MS40 or Ketron XD3 (available on
request) you can control in real time not only the orchestral sounds but
the rhythms and styles, alternate between different variations of a
particular pattern, play along with MIDI files etc. Of course, you can
use this accordion with any other MIDI module you choose. Here is a
taste of what is possible with this instrument. Videos courtesy of

Below
is a recent video demo of the acoustic accordion, courtesy or Petosa
Accordions. The tuning of the instrument for sale matches the
tuning from the video:
The
packages comes with the following accessories, already nicely interfaced
and ready for real time performance:
- The S-2000 has 4 Volume control
knobs on the grill for Treble, Bass, Chords, and Global volume
control of the electronic sounds
- The 4 square tabs above the MIDI
Volime knowbs allow for style variations in each preset
- The grill controller has the
latest design with real buttons instead of the earlier keypad. This
type of buttons are still used in the state of the art MIDI
controllers like the Siwa & Figli Hey-di controller (a natural
evolution of the S-2000)
- Supported Bellows Dynamics and
Velocity Sensitivity
- All cables and a detailed manual
(see photographs below)
- Large volume, air tight 18-fold bellows
- Bellows protector
- Original Petosa shoulder straps with back straps
- Solid case with thick internal padding and a cover for keyboard
protection
The following (optional) MIDI
modules/arranges are available for purchase with this accordion

MS40 MIDI module (optional Balkan rhythms/styles 7/8, 9/8, 11/8 etc.)

This instrument is one
of the best you can find. The tone is clear, yet rich and strong. Each
reed combination has unique tonal color. The acoustic balance between
treble and bass is excellent. The reeds are very efficient and allow for
a great dynamic range. With the custom tuning you can play a huge
variety of music and always enjoy an authentic sound - jazz, classical,
ethnic, Italian, German. The orchestral capabilities of the MIDI will
open a whole new universe for musical expression. It doesn't get any
better!
Our children and
grandchildren will still admire the craftsmanship and the tonal
personality of the AM 1100. Yes, I am confident there is future for
the accordion. The time of prejudice is gone. You can tell by the
accordion music featured in many movies and recent TV commercials for
American Express and BMW. Even the popular TV show "The price is right"
featured an accordion recently, a Petosa accordion. I am very pleased to
see many young talented musicians perform on the accordion.
I hope you enjoy the pictures below and would be glad to hear from you at
973-770-6877 with any questions.
The profile of the
palm master switch is very smart and helps avoid interference
with the performers right leg while
sitting on a chair.
All cables and
accessories are included, neatly stored in a custom made sturdy metal
suitcase with foam padding:
1. S-2000 module
(serves as a tone generator and power supply (the black box with blue
print)
2. Effects pedal board
(connects to the S-2000 module with the black cable in the middle - see
picture below)
3. Volume pedal
(connects either to the S-2000 or the external MIDI module)
4. MIDI data cable
connecting the accordion to the S-2000 module (multi-pin connectors)
5. General MIDI cable
(the red one) connecting the MIDI Out of the S-2000 to an external MIDI
module
6. Stereo audio cable
for the accordion microphones (connects to the accordion)
7. Mono audio cable
for the electronics sounds (connects to the external MIDI module)
8. Power cord

This instrument was built to last for
generations of musicians. The interior is as nicely finished as the
exterior.
All parts have been carefully selected and are in excellent condition -
the keyboard valves, the reed leathers,
the wax, all mechanical assemblies... All metal components are anodized
and will never corrode.
The reeds are fabulous and the response is truly impressive.
