This is a classic Petosa AM 1100 accordion, built in 1999 and still in excellent condition. This fabulous acoustic instrument comes with a factory installed S-2000 MIDI controller, fully programmed and ready to be used. This accordion has been a dream for a generation of American musicians. It features the famous Petosa mahogany chamber and solid walnut keyboard. The mechanics is indestructible. The tone is rich and powerful. With one set of bassoon reeds and three sets of clarinet reeds the instrument features both concert and musette sounds. (Please, note that the treble switches indicate piccolo reeds. The instrument was originally sold with interchangeable reed blocks fro LMMH and LMMM. The MH reed blocks were sold separately by the previous owner.) The 10 (!) bass switches would allow you to find the perfect balance between treble and bass for any selected reed combination. In addition to the excellent acoustic features, the accordion has built-in microphones and a full MIDI installation with very friendly grill controller. You can play this accordion as a fine acoustic instrument, as amplified accordion, as a MIDI instrument sounding like a full orchestra, or in any combination.
accordion comes with a second "acoustic" grill, chrome plated and custom
engraved. With this grill you can use the microphones but not the MIDI.
It changes the appearance of the accordion. You can surprise your
friends and audience as if you had two of these fine instruments.
The AM 1100 model features the best hand-made reeds available with double tone chamber from solid mahogany and low-A bass configuration. It remains the flagship model of Petosa Accordions in Seattle.
This instrument is one of the best you can find. The tone is clear, yet rich and strong. Each reed combination has unique tonal color. The acoustic balance between treble and bass is excellent. The reeds are very efficient and allow for a great dynamic range. With the custom tuning you can play a huge variety of music and always enjoy an authentic sound - jazz, classical, ethnic, Italian, German. The orchestral capabilities of the MIDI will open a whole new universe for musical expression. It doesn't get any better! Our children and grandchildren will still admire the craftsmanship and the tonal personality of the AM 1100. Yes, I am confident there is future for the accordion. The time of prejudice is gone. You can tell by the accordion music featured in many movies and recent TV commercials for American Express and BMW. Even the popular TV show "The price is right" featured an accordion recently, a Petosa accordion. I am very pleased to see many young talented musicians perform on the accordion.
The 4 knobs
on the right side of the above picture (closer to your chin) control the
volume of the electronic sounds (MIDI audio channels) - master, treble,
bass, and chords. The 4 square buttons above the volume knobs allow for
changing the variation of the selected style (both rhythm pattern as
well as richness of accompaniment; fully programmed). The 3 knobs on the
lower side of the grill (shown on the left in the above photograph)
control the volume of the built in microphones - master, treble, and
of the palm master switch is very smart and helps avoid interference
with the performers right leg while sitting on a chair.
The acoustic grill comes in a custom made padded box. The amplification can be used with that grill as well.
Depending on light angle the grill has different appearance and really captivates the audience.
The photograph below shows the "electronic" grill with the embedded MIDI controller.
The keyboard is perfectly aligned and calibrated. The valves are like new. You will play better on this instrument.
All cables and accessories are included, neatly stored in a custom made gig-bag with foam padding:
