Siwa
& Figli White Star Reedless MIDI Accordion
with 2 (!) Built-in Sound Cards
This gorgeous Siwa & Figli White
Star Reedless MIDI accordion was custom built for John Krempasky as a
back up instrument to his black Siwa & Figli Super Millennium
Hybrid MIDI accordion. Since the black accordion has played
without issues for years and John has played the White Star only
few times he decided it would be better to have someone else play the
White Star accordion regularly and enjoy its unique electronics and
excellent mechanical features. This instrument has two (!) built-in
sound cards and can be played without additional MIDI modules.
However, it does have 2 additional MIDI outputs that can be connected
to any external (optional) MIDI expander (Solton, Ketron, Orla,
Roland,MIDI keyboards, computers etc.). This way you combine sounds
from the internal sound cards and the external modules. The accordion
can be played with head phones. Last but not least this instrument can
be played wireless. Below is a summary of the features:
Real hand made full-size keyboard with wooden foundation,
individual key valves, and actual air flow through the bellows when
a key (or bass button) is pressed - natural feel of a high quality
accordion
19.25" keyboard
120 bass
12 fully programmable treble switches
7 fully programmable bass switches, currently set as Preset
Change, Bank Down, Bank UP, Lowest bass note E1, Lowest bass

sound card) and Ketron SD2
The two sound cards can be accessed individually or simultaneously
and have separate stereo outputs
16 independent instrumental parts
that can be assigned to 4 MIDI OUT
sockets, programmed to each part of the accordion
(treble, bass, and chords), and selected in real time with 16
programmable accordion switches (12 treble and 4 bass). Each
instrumental part can be enabled or disabled on the fly by pressing
a button on the MIDI controller (see pictures below). This allows
for simultaneous control of 2 external MIDI arrangers in addition to
the two built-in sound cards!
16 independent MIDI channels
16 sound banks per channel
256 User Presets can be recalled in real time
Bellows dynamics: Off or On (select from 6 curves)

Enjoy the best sampled accordion sounds (128 for each
accordion part - treble, bass, and chords) combined with
Ketron's state of the art orchestral voices

the optional external MIDI Input

The accordion is fully programmed and ready for use
Wireless operation - there is no need for additional belt
pack transmitter or receivers. The wireless transmitter is built
inside the accordion and is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion
battery. The receiver is inside the rack mountable MIDI controller.
You simply replace the MIDI date cable with two connectors, one to
the accordion MIDI output and the other one to the MIDI controller.
See the comments in the pictures area for details.
MIDI controller (rack
mountable)
5 Volume sliders - 3 for the accordion parts (treble, bass,
chords) and two for the orchestral/MIDI functions (treble and bass)
Four MIDI OUT (two of them internally connected to the two
built-in sound cards) and 1 MIDI IN sockets
Headphones audio Out
Foot-switch controller interface
32-character Liquid Crystal Display
The accordion comes with all necessary
cables and accessories including nice case and straps.
The instrument has been fully programmed and is ready to use. You can
access hundreds of accordion and orchestral sounds and effects.
Switching between sound banks and presets is intuitive and easy and
can be performed real time directly from the accordion. Press and
hold the top bass switch (Preset Change) while pressing any of the 41
accordion keys to switch to 41 different sound banks. For example, for
Bank 2 press and hold down the top bass switch and at the same time
press F#1 on the key board. For Bank 8 press simultaneously Bass
switch 1 (top) and C1 on the keyboard. (This
is similar to the Limex MIDI where one would press and hold a Reset
Switch usually mounted near the air valve and change banks pressing
treble keys.) For each sound bank you can access 24
accordion or orchestral sounds using the 12 treble switches. Each
switch access two sounds and you can alternate between them by
pressing the switch again. Some
of
the sound banks are programmed with only the Siwa sounds, others use
the Ketron SD2 sounds. Some banks are programmed to use both sound
cards and even the live drums and patterns files if used with an
optional external Ketron MIDI arranger.
The accordion is still like new.

Please, note that the white labels on
the bass switches are temporary and have been removed after the pictures
were taken. The currently
programmed functions of the bass switches are listed in the description
above.
The accordion comes with a bellows
protector (not shown in the above photograph).

Those of you familiar with the Petosa
Super Millennium Reedless accordion will notice many similarities
between
the MIDI controllers. As a matter of fact, there is a direct
correspondence between the functions on the Siwa and the
Petosa (Logic Systems) controllers. I can provide chart for the Petosa
reedless accordion users for a smooth transition.
You will not need any additional information in order to use the Siwa
MIDI controller. The accordion presented here is
an electronically enhanced version of the Petosa. The Siwa MIDI
controller can be used with up to 2 MIDI modules at the
same time (in addition to the 2 built-in sound cards). You will find the
separate Volume adjustment for each MIDI channel
very
useful. Once you have programmed a preset with several orchestral parts
you can switch any of them on and
off in
real time by pressing the corresponding button from the middle section
of the control panel.
A manual
is provided with the accordion.
The
picture
below shows some of the MIDI accessories: 1 – Multi pin Data Cable with lock
bracket on the accordion end connector (connects the accordion
to the “ACCORDION”
socket on the front panel of the MIDI controller) 2 – Battery charger/adapter (connects
to the accordion multi-pin socket and a wall outlet; used for charging
of the internal Li-oin battery that powers the wireless transmitter) 3 – Wireless Mode Accordion connector
(connects to the accordion multi-pin socket instead of the Multi-pin
Data Cable).
This connector has an ON/OFF switch.
Slide the switch to OFF position while not using the accordion
to
save the battery. 4 – Wireless Mode Connector for the
MIDI controller (connects to the “ACCORDION” socket instead of the
Data cable)
