Sonola SS4 Ernie Felice Accordion Demo
I love Sonola accordions in each class. They have consistent high quality, very responsive reeds, robust mechanics, and memorable tone. The Ernie Felice model is often referred to as the ultimate jazz accordion. This instrument is part of the famous Sonola Symphony Hall Series and features fantastic hand-made reeds, compact slim body (only 23 lb) and full size professional keyboard. The tone is mellow yet powerful and rich in overtones. Playing and listening to the sound of this accordion is a treat for the performer and the audience.
I serviced this accordion in March 2025:
- Keyboard overhaulhe
hardware is clean with no rust. The excellent compression combined with
the air efficient reeds and the light weight would allow a strolling
musician to perform for hours without fatigue. The instrument is
perfectly balanced both acoustically and mechanically. There are some
cosmetic blemishes - please, see the pictures below.
The accordion if offered with a full year warranty.

The two knobs on the upper side of the grill (left side in the picture below) and Tone and Volume controls. The pick up is a standard 1/4" jack.
All straps are new - bass, shoulders, and bellows straps. New bellows protector.
The close-up photograph below shows the worst cosmetic issues with the accordion:
1. The person who sold me the accordion removed the name plate of the original owner and put the SONOLA letters. That area shows scratches and sp,e celluloid patches where the name plate was glued.
2. There has been some previous work on the bass switches. The master is slightly dented and the top switch has a celluloid touch-up. The action of the switches is very good.
I serviced the keyboard in March 2025. It still feels great to play this instrument.
The Sonola SS4 has an extended volume tone chamber.
The reeds are original, never abused by power tools.
You can see the bass microphone mounted to the tone chamber cover and facing the bass reeds.
